Dr Samantha Yap graduated from University College London in the United Kingdom in 1996 and obtained her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2002. She obtained her Specialist Accreditation by the Ministry of Health (Singapore) in Rehabilitation Medicine in 2006.
Dr Yap was awarded a Higher Manpower Development Programme fellowship by the Ministry of Health, Singapore in 2007 for Brain Injury Rehabilitation at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre, Sydney.
Dr Yap is a Rehabilitation Medicine Physician with a background of Internal Medicine and General Rehabilitation Medicine. She has a subspecialty interest in neurorehabilitation, managing patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, brain tumour and Parkinson’s.
She was formerly a Senior Consultant in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital from 2006 to 2021. She ran multi- disciplinary teams in the centre and was active in the development of clinical services and clinical guidelines in the rehabilitation centre. She was actively involved in teaching in both undergraduate and post-graduate training. She was an Adjunct Assistant Professor SingHealth Duke-NUS Neuroscience Academic Clinical Program, Senior Clinical Lecturer for NUS, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and a Visiting Lecturer for Nanyang Polytechnic. She was a Core clinical faculty member of the NHG residency program for Rehabilitation Medicine and was the Site Director for the Geriatric Medicine Senior Residency Program for NHG and SHS.
